Brief History
Jeevan Jyothi College of Theology, located at Garacharma-II, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, is a ministry of Voice of Christ to the World Ministries, a church planting ministry that focuses on the Islands, mainland India, and beyond.
The Holy Spirit designed JJCT as an answer to our call from the harvest fields for producing local leaders for the end-time harvest in the islands. Even though the gospel reached the islands many years ago, mission work in these islands is still in its early stages because it has been run by mainland [Indian mission] leaders, and many of these leaders are not yet effective in working among the Islanders due to language barriers and cultural differences.
Most of the leaders do not want to return to these distant islands because of the lack of services for education, medication, transportation, and amusement for their children. In addition, many are called back by their organization after three or four years of deputation.
As a result, these islands are completely reliant on mainland missions, and there is no local leadership to facilitate effective evangelism. As a result, our ministry in these islands chose to train and equip local leaders to successfully carry on the Lord’s work in these islands.
Understanding all of these challenges and their passion for the people of Islands and nations, Dr. Raja Wilson and his wife Dr. Helen Sheeba Rani, the visionary leaders of Voice of Christ to the World Ministries, decided to train and equip local leaders to carry on the Lord’s work in these Islands effectively and among unreached people groups of nations.
JJCT provides students with theological education and also develops ministerial and leadership abilities in order to carry out the great commission. However, the primary goal of this college’s education is to teach what Jesus taught in order to advance men and women from observation to the manifestation of God’s power.
